Mental Health Awareness Seminar at San Pedro Relocation Center National High School

On September 3, 2026, a meaningful Mental Health Awareness Seminar titled “Breaking the Silence: Mental Health Matters” was conducted at San Pedro Relocation Center National High School, bringing together Junior High School students for an important conversation about mental health, emotional well-being, and the importance of speaking up.

The seminar was organized through the collaboration of the Catalyst Christian Sniper Eagles Club – NCR 65 and Kapakinig Mental Health Organization, an organization dedicated to promoting awareness and support for mental health.

The activity aimed to help students better understand the importance of taking care of their mental and emotional well-being. Through an open and informative discussion, students were encouraged to recognize that mental health is an important part of overall health and that experiencing struggles, stress, worries, or difficult emotions is something that should not be faced alone.

The seminar featured guest speakers Den S. Morales, PhDc, RGC, LPT, CPFE and Dr. Joselito B. Anguiano, PhD, who shared valuable insights and perspectives on mental health. Their discussions encouraged the students to become more aware of their emotions, understand the challenges they may encounter, and learn the importance of seeking help and talking to trusted people when needed.

The theme “Breaking the Silence” emphasized that conversations about mental health should not be avoided because of fear, shame, or misunderstanding. Instead, creating a safe environment where young people can express their feelings and concerns can help build a more understanding and supportive community.

For the Junior High School students of San Pedro Relocation Center National High School, the seminar served as an opportunity to learn that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a courageous step toward taking care of oneself and others.

The collaboration between Kapakinig Mental Health Organization and the Catalyst Christian Sniper Eagles Club – NCR 65 reflects the importance of community involvement in promoting mental health awareness among young people. By bringing these conversations closer to schools and students, initiatives like this can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage a culture of empathy, understanding, and support.

“Breaking the Silence: Mental Health Matters” was more than just a seminar—it was a reminder that every young person deserves to be heard, understood, and supported.

Mental health matters. Every voice matters. And sometimes, breaking the silence is the first step toward healing and hope.
